“Loss of eye contact, flapping, and obsession with spinning objects such as ceiling fans or spinning toys at two years old were the first indicators of my son’s autism. My first tendency was to stop him from obsessing, though later readings made me aware such “activities” help him calm down. This behavior has lessened as he aged and was replaced by new ones such as washing hands and toilet flushing.”
